World Photography Day 2022

Every year, August 19 is observed as World Photography Day. A day which is meant to celebrate photography, and its power to inspire positive change in communities across the world. Well, at least that is what the official World Photo Day website tells you in the About section. According to the description, this day is meant to bring millions of photographers together from across the world so people can connect, and then invest back in their local and the global community. Since then, the camera has evolved so many times from being a giant camera box to hand-held point-and-shoot snappers and palm-sized phones. Thanks to this, photography is no more a niche profession and with the advent of social media, anyone with passion can take out their phone to snap a photo to express their joyous feeling and also attract government attention to bring change to the society for a good cause.

Brands have become aware of the fact that social media posts are effective if they remain updated and connected with the audience. This makes them celebrate almost every important day as moment marketing is doing wonders for most of the companies. Many brands planned photography contests and made their followers share the best set of photographs they have clicked. This is a good way to engage audience and helped brands to interact with their target audience. Below we can have a look at how brands wished World Photography Day with creative campaigns.

The birth of this day dates back to 1839 in France, but it came in to force in 2009.

The idea behind the day is inspiring positive change in the world, by sharing the stories of the photographers from all around the world through their photographs.

“I’ve often quipped that it’s the photographer that captures a great photo, not the camera. I went from shooting on a Canon 5D Mark II to shooting on my iPhone!” says Korske Ara, founder, World Photography Day.
